Validity These installation instructions are valid for vehicles equipped with a 1 • mobile phone fitting with interface (code 386) or • Mercedes-Benz mobile phone (code 388) Accessories Installation Instructions Mercedes-Benz Telephone Module with Bluetooth® wireless technology in combination with a Bluetooth®-capable mobile phone approved by Mercedes-Benz. Vehicles equipped with an infrared-reflec- ting windshield are not covered by these in- stallation instructions. Using the telephone module with mobile phones that have not been approved by Mer- cedes-Benz may lead to malfunctions. Notes Please contact a qualified specialist work- shop if you encounter difficulties when fit- ting the telephone module. Mercedes-Benz recommends that you use a Mercedes-Benz Service Centre for this purpose. The manufacturer reserves the right to change technical details from those shown in the illustrations contained in these instal- lation instructions. If it is legally permissible to use the mobile phone while driving, only do so when traffic conditions allow for it. You may otherwise become dis- tracted from the traffic, which may lead to an accident in which you or others may be injured. For safety reasons, while driving, only use the hands-free system to make calls. When you use the mobile phone via the hands-free system, drive with extra caution, close all windows, try to eliminate background noise and observe the traffic situation. Please pull over or park the car if you do not wish to use the hands- free system to make a call. Do not stop the vehicle or park where it is prohibited to do so. 2 1 M+P-03F-6663 1. Press the telephone module (1) onto the contact plate (2) until it engages.

11 Disconnecting the telephone module from the mobile phone Note During an active call, the connection bet- ween the mobile phone and the telephone module can only be disconnected on the mo- bile phone. (Please refer to the mobile phone operating instructions.) This procedure will not disconnect a call which is in progress. Automatic disconnection When the mobile phone is out of the telepho- ne module's range, the mobile phone is au- tomatically disconnected. Manual disconnection Valid for S-Class vehicles, model series 221, and CL-Class vehicles, model series 216: 1. Using the COMAND controller, select "Telephone" "Telephone off" and confirm. Valid for all other model series: 1. Press and hold the button for ap- prox. 3 seconds on COMAND or the audio system. Manually disconnecting the mobile pho- ne 1. (Please refer to the mobile phone opera- ting instructions.) Notes When the Bluetooth® connection has been manually disconnected, an automatic search is not performed when the key is in position 1 or 2 in the ignition. When within range, the Bluetooth® connec- tion remains active and any incoming calls are received on the hand-free system. There- fore, the connection between the mobile phone and the telephone module should be disconnected manually when you leave the vehicle.

Installing the Mercedes-Benz Cradle adaptor with Bluetooth® 4 M+P-03F-6313 2 1 M+P-03F-6312 Insert the Mercedes-Benz Cradle adaptor with Bluetooth® (1) into the latches on the pre-installed contact plate (2), located in the center console. To insert the Mercedes-Benz Cradle adaptor with Bluetooth® (1), slide it upwards until it clicks into place. 1. With Mercedes-Benz Cradle adaptor with Bluetooth® connected to the vehicle press button (3) for approx. 2-3 seconds. The LED’s (4) will begin to flash rapidly. The Mercedes-Benz Cradle adaptor with Blue- tooth® is in Discovery Mode and can be detected by a Bluetooth® mobile telephone. The Mercedes-Benz Cradle adaptor with Bluetooth® will appear as "MB PhoneSys- tem" on the mobile telephone. 2. For instructions on how to get the mobile telephone ready for pairing, see the mobile telephone manual or visit www.wireless4mb.com. Once the mobile telephone and Mercedes-Benz Cradle adap- tor with Bluetooth® find each other the mobile telephone will prompt the user to enter a Pass-Key.

5 6 M+P-03F-6379 3. To locate the Pass-Key remove cover (5) by sliding it away from the Mercedes-Benz Cradle adaptor with Bluetooth®. Located behind this cover (5) there will be a sticker containing the Pass-Key (6). 4. When prompted, enter the Pass-Key into the mobile telephone. Depending on the type of mobile telephone being used, it may be necessary to confirm a connection request (see the mobile telephone manual). 5. Once the Pass-Key has been entered and accepted the LED’s (4) will be lit conti- nuously. This confirms that the mobile tele- phone is paired and connected and the mobile telephone information has been stored in the Mercedes-Benz Cradle adaptor with Bluetooth®. 6. The mobile telephone is now ready for use with the Mercedes-Benz Hands-Free Communication System.
